Black Crowes was the brainchild of Chris and Rich Robinson in Georgia back in 1984.. They added bassist Johnny Colt , guitarist Jeff Cease and drummer Steve Gorman by 1990 As a result, this was their lineup for their first album, Shake Your Moneymaker. The first single was moderately successful, but their cover of “Hard To Handle”, Otis Redding’s song originally, was what made the group’s career. Not only did “Hard To Handle” become part of the top 40, “She Talks to Angels” became the second Top 40 hit off the album. Because of the success of these two songs, Shake Your Moneymaker went multi platinum after its release. Many other albums were released, among them The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion , as well as Three Snakes and One Charm. These albums, unfortunately, did not match the success of Shake Your Moneymaker. There was also some upheaval within the band; guitarist Mark Ford was fired in 1997, as was drummer Steve Gorman in 2002 . Chris Robinson even announced his intention to go solo. Fortunately, the Black Crowes never disbanded, and released the album Warpaint in 2008. Come see these amazing artists perform!
